I draw my inspiration from my personal visual experience, in combination with other sense perceptions. The imagery eventually finds completion in visual media. Some bodies of work are inspired by special locations, several specifically from travels where the environment has ‘taken me in.’ Quick watercolour sketches often provide the inspiration.

Some bodies of work naturally extend into abstraction. My painting methods are traditional, utilizing paint, paper or canvas, often in combination with drawing materials.

My style of working originates from a background in plein air painting, where the environment is allowed full force participation in the process. This is the same state of mind I work from in studio while creating life paintings, and abstract work. The process itself requires intense concentration and becomes almost a meditative experience.
